FIX IT ONCE, FIX IT RIGHT! CYLINDER HEAD BOLT THREAD REPAIR SYSTEM. PLEASE NOTE: THE INSERTS SUPPLIED IN THIS KIT ARE 1½" (38.1MM) LONG FOR THIS APPLICATION, RATHER THAN 1¾" (44.45MM) AS SHOWN IN THE PHOTO'S.

REPAIRS THE FOLLOWING ALUMINUM ENGINE BLOCKS. 2014-UP GEN V SERIES LT1/LT4/LT5 L8B/L83/L84/L86/L87 V8 & 4.3 LV3 V6 WITH M12X1.75 THREADS. The NS300LT insert system has become the benchmark for repairing aluminum engine blocks. Although other systems may make the claim of having an "approved" kit by many automotive manufacturers, the NS300L T kit has developed the reputation of being a "confirmed" repair.

There is a big difference between "approved" and "confirmed", especially when you figure the expense and frustration of a possible failed repair. The NS300LT Insert System is a head bolt thread repair system originally engineered with great success, to outperform all other repairs on the market for the Cadillac Northstar engine, but s ince it's conception, the NS300LT Insert System has become the preferred head bolt thread repair for most other aluminum engines as well. This can translate into huge cost savings for shops who do these repairs on a variety of different engines. This has been achieved by standardizing the outside thread of all of our inserts, which allows the same drill, taps and alignment jig (which is also universal), to be used on many different engines. M12x1.75 (Common in older 4.9L Cadillac and newer GEN IV 6.2L LS9).

I then realized that it had been repaired once before with GM-approved solid synchronized inserts which also stripped out! After doing some research, I found that a. Larger diameter GM-approved "second repair" insert was available. The challenge with the second repair is, it also had the same fine threads as the failed synchronized "first repair" inserts. The last thing that I wanted to do was to install another fine thread insert, because if it failed again, I would have had no other option, other than to replace the engine block. Obviously, part of a customer's satisfaction is with the quality of a tool and its ease of use. It would be hard to consider a design and execution that could exceed those qualities which I found in your tools. They were truly top notch. The NS300LT insert system is a head bolt thread repair system engineered to outperform all other kits on the market for aluminum engine blocks. Unlike short thin synchronized inserts and coil type insert with synchronized internal and external fine threads, the NS300LT insert system is designed to be a much stronger repair due to its extra length, larger external diameter and coarse external thread.

Which greatly reduces the chance of cracking the block since it's size is designed to distributes the load to a much larger area. There is nothing wrong with those other type of repairs, they are very well designed inserts for most applications. The challenge with them is, they do not always get past the deteriorated aluminum and back into virgin aluminum due to their smaller diameter and fine external threads (the same fine threads that failed in the first place).

In the case of the SUBARU blocks which uses a finer head bolt thread normally found in most aluminum engine blocks, it's even more critical to use an insert which grips the block as much a possible. Occasionally, those other types of repairs have failed only a few hundred miles after the repair. They found the NS300LT insert gives them a much stronger, more reliable repair, and in return, saves them the expense and frustration of failed repairs.
